Retro Designs has unveiled a restomod based on a 1974 Porsche 911, commemorating the IROC race from that year. The vehicle is styled after one of the participants and costs from $250,000 to custom-order.
The IROC (International Race of Champions) event was organized to determine North America’s best racing driver of them all. It was attended by leaders of numerous national championships, who were all driving identical cars. The first season opened with everybody behind the steering wheel of a Porsche 911 RSR.
This particular example was styled after the racecar piloted by George Follmer, a participant of Indy 500, Trans-Am, NASCAR and many other races. Like its object of inspiration, the restomod received a vivid blue paint coat with a white livery superimposed on it.
Powering the ride is a 3.0-liter flat-six engine turbocharged to 304 PS (300 hp / 224 kW), which is mated to a manual transmission and rear-wheel drive system. The suspension utilizes Bilstein coilovers and adjustable sway bars. Big Red Brake calipers and Fuchs-style aftermarket wheels are also installed.
The cabin accommodates bucket seats sporting integrated headrests and racing harnesses, as well as a Momo Prototipo steering wheel. The car also has an AC and a roll bar installed.
