Porsche 911 (993) restomod poised to sell for $1.1M+ at August auction

An auction will take place during the Monterey Car Week in mid-August dedicated to – among other things – this gorgeous-looking Porsche 911 (993) tuned by Gunther Werks. The uniquely colorized car is expected to go for $1.1–1.3 million.

Only 25 units was made. This example stands out from the rest thanks to a unique exterior paint with added golden flakes. The warm-hued paint was chosen specifically to go well with the natural black-and-brown texture of exposed carbon fiber. The effect may look subdued in the photos, but you can still notice how warm and yellowish the whole car looks.

Another unique property of this particular restomod is its engine. The standard 3.6-liter flat-six block underwent an upgrade at Rothsport and was stroked to full four liters of displacement. Most of the internals were replaced with forged ones, and the intake was borrowed from the 911 (996) GT3.

The high price expectations aren’t based on exclusivity alone, though. With less than 50 km (80 kilometers) under its belt, the car is as-new. Granted, Gunther Werks will make you another one like it if you place an order, and it will probably cost a fair deal less, but the tuning company has a backorder queue spanning literal years, so that’s only an option for the patient among us.
