The Stuttgart sports car maker is celebrating its 60th birthday this year with the launch of a driver-focused 911 S/T (see video) and a few other, less conventional releases. For one, Porsche has teamed up with Puma to produce some exclusive footwear for its fans.
The idea was to reflect the history of the legendary 911 in the form of modern sneakers. There will be two designs to choose from: Retro (inspired by the past) and Heritage (based on the latest cars). Only 1972 pairs of Puma Porsche Retro sneakers and 1963 pairs of Puma Heritage ones will be produced in total.
Starting with the Retro, it sports a slim silhouette, a Light Blue color with red stitching and a number 56 on each shoe. The base material is suede with some leather parts thrown in. Folding back the tongue reveals the serial number of the specific sneaker, as well as the name of the limited series it belongs to.
In turn, the Heritage model looks modern and takes after the 911 S/T. It is sewn from soft grey leather matching the color of Porsche’s sports car and has a padding inspired the latter’s Cognac Brown cabin. The number 63 references the year the first 911 model rolled off the assembly line, and the ornament on the tongue imitates that of the 911 S/T seat backs.
The company will exhibit these sneakers along with the car that inspired them at the IAA Munich show starting on September 5, 2023. Pre-orders will be available on the Porsche website from September 6. Puma will open its own pre-order books on September 14 for North America and on September 24 for Europe.
