Restyled Porsche 911 SC hits $160k at auction

The 1982 Porsche 911 SC coupe does not count among the German marque’s most coveted or collection-worthy cars, but the owner of this example went to great lengths to make it look like the more popular 930 Turbo model. The result exceeded all expectations.

The tuner behind the conversion replaced the fenders, installed new GFRP bumpers at both ends and added a bulky rear spoiler to increase the semblance. Along with the body kit, the car wound up with quite a few genuine 930 Turbo components under the bodywork – torsion beams, tie rod ends, damper bushings and brake calipers, among other things.

15-inch wheels finished in a golden tint slotted into the arches with Cooper CS5 Ultra Touring tires at the front and Nitto NT555R ones at the back. The interior was largely left alone, but the engine received a full rebuild/upgrade at Torque Power Engines (California). Unfortunately, we were unable to find any specific performance numbers mentioned.

And the result? The restomod went on sale this spring and brought home $92,500 – not bad at all for an elderly 911 SC wearing makeup. It crossed the auction block once again this week and raked in even more – $160,000.
