Rare Porsche 911 crops up on sale for $1M

A San Francisco Porsche dealership is selling an exotic 911 Carrera RS 2.7 made in 1972 and barely used since. The asking price is an eye-watering million USD.

The car has a touch over 9,700 km (6,000 miles) on the counter. The listing doesn’t mention how many owners it had, but the entire maintenance history is included with the purchase. The seller boasts a “near-ideal” condition.

Back in 1972, the Carrera RS 2.7 was the fastest German production car in existence (see video). Its 2.7-liter flat engine pumped out 210 PS (207 hp / 154 kW), which was plenty for a car weighing just 960 kilos (2,116 pounds) with all liquids in. It could sprint to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.8 seconds and reached 245 km/h (152 mph).

An Olive Yellow body goes along with a cabin wrapped in black perforated leather. The list of features mentions an 85-liter gas tank and 15-inch forged wheels. A ducktail spoiler at the rear rounds off the custom spec.
