Porsche launches 30 Manthey Racing-themed 911s

To celebrate 25 years of the Manthey Racing team, Porsche will be releasing 30 special 911 GT2 RS Clubsport models with the ‘25th Anniversary Edition’ badge attached. Pre-orders are already running, and shipments are scheduled for early 2022.

The United States will only get six of these starting from $615,000. In essence, the car is a 911 (991) racer with no street license, and is powered by a flat-six engine cranked up to 700 metric horsepower (690 hp / 515 kW). A semi-automatic transmission sends the momentum to the rear.

The styling will pay homage to the Manthey Racing-tuned 911 GT3 R that won multiple 24 Hours of the Nürburgring endurance races. Note the immediately recognizable yellow-green livery and the large radiator.

Elsewhere, the special edition boasts a sophisticated body kit with a giant rear wing, a front splitter and assorted air intakes. The interior is stripped clean of everything not strictly required, and offers only the basic controls along with bucket seats and a roll cage. The suspension benefits from track-friendly tweaks, and some components stem from the Porsche 935.
