Rare Porsche set to sell for $2 million

A Porsche 935 out of a 2019MY batch of 77 cars inspired by the legendary Moby Dick racer from the 1970s will go on sale in several days expected to fetch between $1.5 and 2 million. Having been driven four laps on the Road Atlanta racetrack and never again, it is in pristine condition.

Like its peers (see video), this Porsche 935 runs on the same platform as the track-only 911 GT2 RS Clubsport. Unlike that model, it benefits from a custom body not restricted by any specific racing regulations.

The whole exterior gives off distinct 935 Longtail vibes. Like the Le Mans racer, the car has carbon-fiber bodywork, a homologated roll cage, a fire extinguishing system and bucket seats with enhanced lateral support. The engine is a standard 3.8-liter turbocharged flat-six mill mated to a seven-speed PDK transmission, driving it with 700 PS (690 hp / 515 kW).

The car on sale is number 50 in the batch. Porsche offered eight exterior finishes to choose from, but the car’s first and only owner, a renowned collector, settled on the traditional Gulf Oil livery. He also specified 18-inch centerlock wheels, carbon-ceramic brakes and a two-zone climate control.
