Porsche has unveiled the track-only 911 GT3 R model, which is based on the latest 911 platform and is already available for pre-ordering starting from €511,000. The first race will take place at the 24 Hours of Daytona next year.
Compared to the stock 911, the GT3 R boasts an enhanced aerodynamic kit and an upgraded engine bored out from 4 to 4.2 liters of displacement. The naturally aspirated six-cylinder block now produces another 15 metric horsepower for a total of 560 PS (552 hp / 412 kW). The engineering crew had to tilt it in the bay a little bit in order to install a different rear diffuser beneath the rear end. The gearbox is six-speed sequential.
Aside from the above, the racecar has 8 mm (0.3 inches) of added wheelbase length, upgraded brakes and more robust shock absorbers with several selectable modes of operation.
