In the sports car world, the Porsche 911 GT3 is regarded as a no-nonsense track weapon with class-leading characteristics and a sub-7-second Nürburgring lap time. The only OEM way to upgrade from it is to pay $58,400 extra for the RS package. Starting now, you can ask Manthey Racing for an alternative solution.
The aftermarket package costs slightly less at $57,300 and omits engine tuning. Instead, the buyer gets aerodynamic optimizations and further weight reduction. The list opens with a revised front end featuring a spoiler and side winglets. The wheels are covered with aero discs, and a lighter diffuser sits at the rear bumper. Rounding off the rear end is a rear spoiler with a Gurney flap.
Also included is a stiffer coil-over suspension kit that owners can adjust in a few moments without any special tools. On top of all this, buyers can opt for an ultralight wheel set adding a cool $15,500 to the total and reinforced brakes (price unannounced).
The Manthey-tuned Porsche 911 GT3 laps up the ‘Ring 4.1 seconds faster than the stock car, but still lags several seconds behind the GT3 RS model mentioned above. Then again, the official rationale behind the tuning is that you get a car that’s equally enjoyable to drive on public roads and on the racetrack.
