RM Sotheby’s putting a zero-mileage Porsche 911 racecar on sale in September

A 2008, track-only Porsche 911 GT3 RSR will go under the hammer at RM Sotheby’s on September 15.

The Stuttgart automaker only made 35 such vehicles for racing teams, and one of them is now poised to fetch at least 650,000 CHF thanks to having 20 km (12 miles) on the odometer after the mandatory presale tests.

The Porsche 911 (997) evolved into a basis for endurance racecars in 2006 and has since brought back gold of the 24 Hours of Le Mans and Nürburgring. In its year 2008 update, it received a revised aero kit, upgraded suspension and a new six-speed sequential transmission. Power comes from a 3.8-liter flat-six engine rated at 485 PS (478 hp / 357 kW).

The auction holder points out that the car comes with a full package of technical documents, but cannot be used on public roads. It is also not compliant with any modern racing regulations. Unless modifications are made, the owner will only be able to participate in retro racing events.
