Porsche has posted a video showcasing its gorgeous 911 GT3 R Rennsport model introduced in September. The company recorded engine and exhaust sound samples from multiple prototypes, and at nearly ten thousand revs per minute, you definitely don’t want to miss them.
Seven mics were used on track to record the audio, which was then processed in a studio. In addition to this, Porsche employees collected some tiny bits of rubber and racetrack surface treatment and put them onto a disc transforming sound into vibrations. They then projected the Rennsport engine sound onto the disc, coming up with rather unique vibe patterns.
The latest 911 Rennsport is based on the standard GT3 R model and utilizes a 4.2-liter flat-six engine rated at 620 PS (612 hp / 456 kW). Customers can choose from multiple exhaust system options varied by the degree of muffling. The car is drivable exclusively on racetracks and may not be compatible with the noise requirements of some tracks with a louder exhaust installed, so offering OEM options makes sense.
