This 1978 Porsche 924 with some rally equipment on (the so-called ‘Safari’ style) will be sold at an auction soon, and could turn out to be quite affordable due to its mileage and status.
Unlike the more iconic 911 models, the 924 was never in quite as high of a regard. This one stands out thanks to a number of modifications its former owner made to it. These include a Martini paint scheme, 15-inch alloys wrapped in Toyo off-road rubber, wheel spacers for a wider track, and a number of interior modifications.
Power for the racer still comes from a rather tame 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine mated to a five-speed manual transmission and RWD system. The odometer reads 58,220 km (36,176 miles), but the drivetrain underwent a complete overhaul earlier this year and has not been started since. The paint coat was last updated seven years ago, so some chips and scratches are present.
