Any love for a Porsche 928 harboring a JDM V12 under the hood?

Porsche cars are appreciated for their individuality and character, traits that depend to a major extent on the drivetrain. For the 928 model, its 4.5-liter V8 is responsible for much of its charm. Imagine swapping that iconic engine for a V12 of a 33-year-old Toyota Camry! Wait, someone actually did just that.

The car is on sale from Cars&Bids with the bidding at a low $13,500 and a day remaining on the clock. In its original form, it used to churn out 222 PS (219 hp / 163 kW) and 331 Nm (244 lb-ft) of torque. The 1990 Century was a Japan-only executive saloon that extracted 286 PS (282 hp / 210 kW) and 479 Nm (472 hp / 352 kW) out of its twelve-cylinder.

Even considering that the mill is three decades old, the swap has likely improved the output quite a bit. A manual Chevrolet Corvette gearbox was tasked with delivering the momentum to the wheels. A three-row aluminum radiator was installed for cooling, a custom carbon-fiber air intake system was devised specifically for this car, and a high-performance catalytic converter was added as well.

Other notable mods include a carbon front splitter, a carbon hood cover and an Audi TT spoiler. The 18-inch wheels in the arches stem from a Porsche Panamera and come wrapped in Nexen N3000 tires.

The interior is a mix between retro and modern. The former category encompasses the seats, the dashboard and the steering wheel, while the latter includes the power windows and the instruments. The mileage is unknown, but the seller admits the car needs a few repairs here and there.
