According to the announcement made by Porsche, the company is currently working on an updated version of the 718 Boxster sports car. As per the tradition, the newcomer gets the nickname “Spyder”. Now, we know the 718 Boxster pretty well, so let’s just take a look at what’s new.
Big news: the stock 2-liter, 4-cylinder motor gets dumped in favor of the 4-liter engine that comes with Porsche 911 GT3. The latter is easily capable of 500 horsepower. Apart from that, the new car will be much lighter than its predecessor because (as is often the case with sports cars) the audio system, air conditioning and some noise insulation are all removed. The novelty also gets a lightweight soft sunshine roof.
The new Spyder awaits release in 1H 2018.
