Video: Porsche Boxster becomes a 1960s-era Formula racer

Check out the latest project U.S. tuner Wesley Kagan has been working on: a replica of a Formula One Porsche racecar from the 1960s built upon a used Boxster chassis.

Kagan paid a mere $2,500 for the elderly roadster and decided to turn it into a track tool of his dream. He admits he has always admired the F1 racers of the sixties and particularly Colin Chapman’s iconic Lotus 49.

The car’s exterior is actually inspired by the video game Forza Motorsport. Wesley designed the space frame and the pushrod suspension on his own, taking the engine, transmission, steering, brakes and other elements from the Boxster.

The enthusiast has already spent eight months working on the project, but is still fairly far from completing it. He is currently running some preliminary track tests and ironing out the technical issues that surface.
