Check out a one-off Porsche 205 (or Peugeot Boxster)

A 21-year-old Porsche Boxster has recently cropped up on sale in Great Britain featuring a Peugeot 205 body swap.

The owner of the car had it stylized after the mid-engined 205 Turbo 16 model that came out in a run of 200 units for rally car homologation purposes. As such, it received particularly wide fenders with air vents in the back, as well as a roll cage.

The chassis, suspension, brakes and interior are all original Boxster fare, although the dashboard has been shortened to fit the new body. The electronic systems are all present as well, including even the cruise control.

A 2.7-liter flat engine under the hood features a throttle valve taken from a 911 model and a custom exhaust system. The stock engine normally produced 220 PS (217 hp / 162 kW) in conjunction with a five-speed manual transmission, getting the car 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 6.6 seconds. We do not know whether this version is any faster.

The auction ended with a top bid of just £7,100. The rare Peugeot 205 Turbo 16 model usually costs more than that by a few orders of magnitude: one of these is on sale online right now with an asking price of U.S. $540,000.
