At $20,000,000 and above, owning a McLaren F1 is a luxury available to select few. Buying a well-designed imitation – like this one based off the Porsche Boxster, for example – could be the way to go, however.
The car has recently popped up on eBay with little accompanying information except that it was located in Czech Republic. What truly attracts attention is the sheer quality of execution. The exterior imitates the original F1 proportions down to the minutest detail, the doors swing open like butterfly wings, and the headlights also appear authentic. The matte black wheels contrast the body well, there is an unmistakable F1 roof scoop, and the rear end is so well designed it might even fool some McLaren fans into thinking it’s the real thing.
The interior is largely Boxster – note especially the dashboard and the automatic transmission – but the driver’s seat it mounted in the middle. This detail alone sets this replica apart from most and makes it one of the finest in our own eyes.
If we ever find out how much this one-off sold for, we will make sure to let you know.
