As we know, the Porsche brand began with building custom cars on modded VW Beetle chasses, so it made perfect sense for CarMaxx Classics to pay homage to the fact by merging the two into a highly unique restomod.
The chassis here comes from a 2000 Porsche Boxster S, as do the engine, the transmission and most of the internals. The bodywork, on the other hand, stems from the 1303-gen VW Beetle, alternatively known as the Super Beetle. You can still tell it’s a restomod by the flared rear fenders, the new wheels and the side air intakes, but otherwise the fusion is seamlessly executed and good-looking.
The stock 3.2-liter six-pot gets a tune-up from its original 250 to 274 PS (from 246 to 270 hp; from 186 to 201 kW). It probably doesn’t sound like much, but the car sprints 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in five seconds flat – a whole second and a half faster than the stock Boxster can do.
According to the tuning company, the car feels more or less like a genuine Porsche on the road – which is unsurprising, considering its credentials. It is also barely used with 2,000 km (~1,250 miles) under the belt.
The biggest downside, as you may have guessed, is the price: €195,000, or U.S. $210,000.
