Tuners turn a Porsche Boxster into a ONE-seat car

There are many different light vehicles in the modern automotive world – some offer accommodation for as many as seven passengers, most go with four or five, and some only have two seats. But there is no one-seat car on the entire market. Correction: there WAS none, until recently.

California-based car design studio Bisimoto Engineering has unveiled a very peculiar take on the Porsche Boxster, with only the driver’s seat located dead in the middle. The engineer team said they didn’t plan to launch series production anytime soon, though, so the vehicle remains completely unique so far.

The Porsche Boxster by Bisimoto Engineering has lost some weight thanks to the generous use of carbon fiber parts. It also now comes with a roll cage, 19-inch carbon wheels (each weighing in at 9 kg / 20 lbs), a digital rear view mirror which projects the image from the rear view camera, and an engine boost feature.

The latter functions pretty much it does on Formula One racecars, with the only exception being that it doesn’t offer lost power regeneration. All the driver has to do to raise the performance by 107 hp (80 kW) is to push the button that says “To Pass”. To warm up the tires prior to start, you need to push and hold “Line Lock” on the steering wheel.

Bisimoto Engineering is widely known for its unusual and radical vehicle redesigns some of which may even put the above example to shame. For instance, the studio has recently turned a regular Honda Odyssey minivan into a real monster packing a 1,000+ hp (750+ kW) engine.
