This Porsche 911 cabriolet could care less what you think about its mods

It is no secret that old and prestigious sports cars sell best when properly restored and not modded at all. This 1984 Porsche 911 Carrera is old, prestigious and properly done – but there is no conceivable way of calling it stock.

The owner must have drawn inspiration from RUF Porsches – note the stickers on the frunk lid and the rear deck lid. The tuner has no such project in its portfolio, though, and the whole thing looks like an imitation of its work. The listing mentions a power boost to 790 PS (780 hp / 581 kW).

This was accomplished by swapping the old 3.1-liter naturally aspirated flat-six engine for a 3.8-liter twin-turbo flat-six. The transmission is five-speed manual, and there is no mention of sprint times.

Other than that, the cabriolet doesn’t shun from borrowing parts from all around. Its cloth top once belonged to a 1997MY 911 model, the seats come from a 996-gen coupe, and the arches are occupied by HRE wheels suspended on coilovers. The dashboard inside is trimmed with carbon fiber, the radio is a Continental, and there is even a rearview camera for parking convenience.

The tuned ride is on sale in the United States with no asking price. Purists may find it aggravating, but it looks like it will sell easily.
