Copart is offering a rare Porsche Carrera GT for sale on its website with an airbag deployed and its front fascia damaged in a crash. Despite its lamentable state, someone is already willing to purchase it for $362,000 USD with nine days remaining on the auction clock.
Why pay twice the price of a reasonably used and well-kept Ferrari Testarossa for a Carrera GT? Apparently, the engine is fully functional and the car should theoretically be able to spring back into action after some repairs. The seller seems a little reticent about specifics, though.
The photos reveal impact damage to the frunk and the bumper, as well as a deployed passenger’s airbag. What we cannot see is the suspension, which could also suffer some damage.
Everything seems fine at the rear end, however, suggesting that the engine is safe and sound. With around 13,500 km (8,400 miles) under its belt, the 5.7-liter V10 should be in prime condition.
What makes the Carrera GT so expensive is the fact that precious few such cars remain available in good condition. An undamaged example with the same mileage (like in the video here) could cost around $1,200,000 USD, so whoever invests into repairing this one should be able to save plenty of money this way.
