Low-mileage 2004 Porsche Carrera GT set to smash through a price record

A Porsche Carrera GT with barely more than 2,000 km (1,250 miles) on the odometer to show for being 18 years old is currently being traded at an auction with the bidding at 1.5 million USD and counting.

The car has a clean record and comes with an OEM certificate of authenticity. It rolled off the assembly line on May 4, 2004, and was shipped to a resident of Florida.

Like most other examples of this model, this GT wears a silver finish and has matching removable roof panels. The interior is predominantly brown. As you would expect from a low-mileage vehicle, the condition is pristine.

A closer look at the standard magnesium alloy wheels (19” front, 20” rear) reveals carbon-ceramic brakes. The bucket seats inside benefit from particularly lightweight construction that involved both carbon and Kevlar. The trim specification includes many power options, a CD player, and an air conditioner.

Powering the classic supercar is a 5.7-liter naturally aspirated V10 mated to a six-speed manual transmission. The rear wheels get hit with 612 PS (603 hp / 450 kW), letting the car reach 100 km/h (62 mph) in under four seconds.

Porsche pieced together only 1,270 such cars in 2003–2007.
