Twice-reborn Porsche Carrera GT bid to eye-watering $0.6M, seller voids the deal

Few modern classics are as desirable on the used car market as the Porsche Carrera GT, which can fetch north of a million USD in good condition nowadays. This particular example could have cost substantially less than that, but the owner reasoned that having a salvage title is not reason enough for discounts.

The coupe rolled off the assembly line in 2005 and currently has around 13,500 km (8,400 miles) on the clock. It is slightly modified with new F&F-inspired headlamps, diodes in air intakes and a different steering wheel. A closer look reveals that it was grey metallic at first, but was later resprayed matte black and additionally wrapped in the same color. Sensing the pattern yet?

If you don’t, note the assorted panel gaps, the poorly centered exhaust tips and the crack in one of the carbon-fiber seat backs. The truth is, Carfax mentions this particular car severely damaged in an incident in 2009 that prompted the insurer to deem it a write-off. The owner decided to bring it back on the road, though, and has since crashed it at least once more, because it was being offered with a salvage title earlier this week.

And the best part? The bidding had reached $600,000 – arguably plenty of money to pay for a used-and-abused supercar in this condition – yet the owner felt it was not enough and backed out of the deal.
