Not-so-new 2005 Porsche Carrera GT goes on sale for nearly $1.3M

One out of 1,270 Porsche Carrera GT examples made is up for grabs right now with over 26,600 km (16,530 miles) under its belt and a bold asking price of U.S. $1,275,000.

The seller argues that the car is worth it owing to its iconic status, rarity value and all-original condition. The listing also mentions that the owner recently paid over $80,000 for maintenance, including an engine overhaul.

The original owner ordered the supercar with a number of relatively rare options. For example, one of the distinguishing features of the 2005 Porsche Carrera GT model was a gear lever knob made from beech wood. However, the example on sale has a carbon-fiber lever from Porsche’s Custom Tailoring package installed instead. It also sports carbon trim on the steering wheel and the seats. The seats themselves are custom-made and 15 mm (0.6”) wider than standard.

It seems like the ad might stay posted for a while longer, though. It currently has over 10,000 views, but not a single offer. We suspect that the mileage mentioned above could be a bit much for the asking price.

The original Carrera GT (see video) shipped with 5.7-liter, ten-cylinder engine mated to a six-speed manual transmission. It pushed 612 PS (603 hp / 450 kW) to the wheels and sprinted to 100 km/h (62 mph) in under four seconds.
