Piloting a Porsche Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid, German racecar driver Tim Schrick has set an absolute world record of 3 minutes 51 seconds at the Gotland Ring in Sweden. But there are catches.
First, the record is purely technical, since no other vehicles have ever attempted this track.
Second, the Gotland Ring hasn’t been commissioned yet and therefore doesn’t officially exist.
The Porsche Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid had to cover four kilometers on tarmac and the remaining three kilometers on grass, sand and gravel, in that order.
The Cayenne Hybrid debuted on August 13, based on a 4.0-liter V8 rated at 550 hp (410 kW) and an electric motor rated at 136 hp (101 kW). Porsche estimates the total output of the hybrid powertrain at 680 hp (507 kW) and the maximum speed at 295 km/h (220 mph).
