Porsche Cayenne Coupe GTS spied during road tests

The third generation of the Porsche Cayenne SUV debuted three years ago and gained a coupe modification called Cayenne Coupe last spring (shown in the video). Now, the new Coupe GTS spec has been spotted out in the open.

The current Cayenne lineup consists of the standard spec (V6 3.0, 340 hp / 254 kW), E-Hybrid (V6 3.0, 462 hp / 340 kW), S (V6 2.9, 440 hp / 324 kW), Turbo (V8 4.0, 550 hp / 404 kW), and Turbo S E-Hybrid (V8 4.0, 680 hp / 500 kW). The upcoming GTS should occupy the middle position between the S and the Turbo.

The second-gen Cayenne GTS initially came equipped with a 4.8-liter V8 good for 420 hp (310 kW), but traded it for a 3.6-liter twin-turbo V6 capable of 440 hp (324 kW) after an update.

Just what kind of engine the new GTS will receive remains uncertain. Perhaps the German sports car maker will bolster the performance of the V6 2.9 the S spec ships with, or maybe it will give it a tuned-down version of the Turbo’s V8. The currently available Panamera GTS uses the latter option, extracting up to 460 hp (340 kW) and 620 Nm (457 lb-ft) of torque out of its four-liter V8.

Barring any unforeseen consequences, the new Cayenne Coupe GTS should celebrate its official premiere later in the year.
