Drag Race: RS Q8 vs. X6 M Competition vs. Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid

The CarWOW team keeps us entertained with their latest video bringing three German-made, V8-powered, AWD SUVs to the drag strip. All are good, but which one is the best?

The Audi RS Q8 is a mild hybrid primarily powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 with 600 PS (592 hp / 441 kW) and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque. It weighs in at 2,315 kg (5,104 lbs) and starts from £101,000 in Great Britain.

The BMW X6 M Competition packs a 4.4-liter V8 TT good for 625 PS (616 hp / 460 kW) and 750 Nm (553 lb-ft) of torque. Its curb weight amounts to 2,370 kg (5,225 lbs), and prices start from £113,000.

The Porsche Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid is the most powerful of the trio thanks to its potent 4.0-liter V8 working in tandem with a capable electric motor and battery. The combined output is as high as 680 PS (671 hp / 500 kW), and 900 Nm (664 lb-ft) of torque. Hacing said that, it is also heavier than the rest at nearly 2.5 metric tons (5,500 lbs) and more expensive with £123,000 starting price.

The testing crew ran all three cars on a quarter-mile (402-meter) track three times to minimize the impact of driver error, but the outcome was the same for all three. In the most telling race, the winner crossed the finish line 0.2 seconds ahead of the runner-up.
