According to Automotive News quoting representatives of Porsche dealerships, the automaker is thinking about producing a full-size, upmarket alternative to the Cayenne (featured in our gallery here).
The publication claims that the car will feel like a cross between an SUV and a sedan and come with an unusually flat rear. ‘Landjet’ is allegedly being considered for the name, and Volkswagen Artemis for the platform. Similar tech is currently used in top-tier electric cars with Bentley, VW and Audi badges on them.
The alleged Porsche Landjet will take advantage of the latest electric car tech and is expected to come out as a PHEV first and a BEV second. The former could premiere in the second half of 2020 and the latter several months after that. The target range is 650 kilometers, or 404 miles.
Insiders report that Porsche has already previewed the full-size SUV concept in multiple dealerships, and that most thought it looked unlike any other Porsche, including the Cayenne and the Macan.
For its own part, the automaker repeatedly stated that not all ideas make it into production. As such, it remains undecided whether the Landjet ever becomes a mass-market SUV.
