1,000-PS Porsche Cayenne gets tested for acceleration potential

AutoTopNL has gotten its hands on a remarkable car this week: an extremely tuned Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT. Let’s see what the SUV is capable of with a thousand horses under the hood.

SSP Performance, which is responsible for this build, did not reveal many specifics. The standard 4.0-liter V8 TT is still under the hood, but numerous modifications enable it to produce 1,000 PS (986 hp / 735 kW) and 1,200 Nm (885 lb-ft) of torque. This is an enormous gain over the standard 640 PS (631 hp / 471 kW) and 850 Nm (627 lb-ft).

Just how good is it at sprinting? The video provides the definitive answer, but you can read on for some numbers.

The Cayenne hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.55 seconds, but the driver admitted he fumbled the start and could do better. It then proceeded to reach 200 km/h (124 mph) from zero in under 10 seconds. It completed a quarter-mile run in 11.06 seconds.

AutoTopNL was unable to reliably determine its top speed, but everything suggested that it lay high above 300 km/h (186 mph). For a bulky crossover SUV like the Cayenne Turbo, it is a serious accomplishment indeed.
