The German sports car maker is already testing a track-focused Cayenne SUV/coupe in field conditions, and here’s what it shapes up to be.
The performance-oriented Cayenne will be available solely in the coupe-SUV guise and not as a traditional SUV. In designing it, the company made an emphasis on efficient cornering, improving the active roll suppression system and the front suspension to be more responsible. The car also received a titanium exhaust system with tips in the middle of the rear bumper.
Lars Kern, test pilot for Porsche, pointed out that the model will ship with brand-new 22-inch tires designed for it specifically. Brand ambassador Walter Röhrl added that the new Cayenne handled more like a small sports car than like a full-blown SUV.
Technical specifications aren’t there yet, but it would be logical for the model to become the most powerful 4.0-liter V8 Cayenne on the lineup. The top non-hybrid spec currently produces 550 PS (542 hp / 404 kW), and we expect the newcomer to command around 631 PS (622 hp / 464 kW). This would put it barely below the power level of the Lamborghini Urus, which extracts 650 PS (641 hp / 478 kW) out of the same engine.
The especially powerful Cayenne might debut simultaneously with a facelift of the range, which should bring the model closer to the Taycan EV in terms of exterior styling while giving it a 911-like cabin.
