Porsche unveils the 718 Cayman racecar

The Porsche 718 Cayman family has expanded to incorporate a new member called the GT4 Clubsport. The racecar comes in two trim versions: Competition (for professional racing drivers) and Trackday (for aspiring enthusiasts).

The door panels and the rear wing of the vehicle are made of a unique organic fiber that – Porsche claims – has never been used in the automotive industry before. It enables the car to weigh 130 kilograms (286 lbs) less than its regular counterpart.

The two-door coupe comes powered by a naturally aspirated engine rated at 425 hp (317 kW) linked to a six-speed semi-automatic transmission.

The Cayman racecaralso features performance brakes, a roll cage, front suspension copied from the 911 GT3 Cup, a mechanical rear differential, and Recaro bucket seats with six-point safety belts.

Sales will begin in February with the Trackday trim of the Porsche 718 GT4 Clubsport priced at €134,000 and above and the Competition trim starting at €157,000.
