Jordon Musser makes the Porsche Cayman shine in an entirely new light

Ever since Porsche launched its Cayman sports car series in production in 2005, it has been the subject of much controversy. Diehard Porsche fans criticized it for many things, but mainly for the comparably lackluster engine performance (usually 240 – 300 hp). Some even dismiss it as ‘a Porsche for housewives’, despite the 718 Cayman GT4 having recently lapped up the ‘Ring in 7:28 – not a small feat at all! Now, let us watch Jordon Musser rescue the image of the Cayman with a rather radical approach.

The man cuts out the stock 3.3-liter opposite-six engine at the rear and puts a humongous 6.2-liter Chevrolet LSA V8 in its place. He then makes numerous improvements in the cooling, air intake and exhaust systems, and fits the engine with high-end dual turbochargers. As a result, the much-scoffed ‘entry-level’ Porsche Cayman 987c skyrockets from its 295 hp (220 kW) to 1,500 hp (1,120 kW), or more than five times the power!

Further project highlights include the six-speed manual transmission borrowed from a Lamborghini Gallardo, racing-spec wheels and brakes, and a full body kit with rather aggressive styling.

Inside, Alcantara covers the front panel and the steering wheel, the bucket seats are made by Tillett, and the digital dashboard is also new.
