In an earlier story, we reported that Porsche had turned a Cayman GT4 Clubsport racecar into a rally car. Piloted by famous driver Romain Dumas, the modded vehicle participated in the recently concluded ADAC Rallye Deutschland, which is part of the World Rally Championship (WRC).
The Porsche GT4 Clubsport Rally was built in compliance with the FIA R-GT regulations. It received a DSG box coupled with a 3.8-liter flat engine rated at 385 hp (287 kW).
Compared to its circuit-bound counterpart, the Porsche GT4 rally car received a bottom guard plate, a new roof-mounted air intake, and its own set of wheels. It stands to reason that its suspension could also be reconfigured, although there is no official mention of that.
Aside from the above, the car features an additional seat for the co-driver, an all-digital dashboard and doors filled with energy-absorbing foam.
Porsche never said it was going to enter the WRC with its own team. However, one thing is certain: the company is going to continue building rally cars for other works teams to use.
