Porsche unveiled the Macan facelift last year, but the GTS version hasn’t followed suit until now. Let us see what opting for the middle ground between the S and the Turbo will give you in 2020.
While the previous Macan GTS packed 360 hp (268 kW), the new one squeezes its 2.9-liter turbocharged V6 for 380 hp (283 kW) and 520 Nm (384 lb-ft) of torque. Getting from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) is now a matter of 4.9 seconds (4.7 s if you tick the optional Sport Chrono Package), which represents a 0.3-second improvement over the previous version.
The Macan GTS maxes out at 261 km/h (162.2 mph), which is slightly above the 254 km/h (157.8 mph) of the Macan S, but below the 270 km/h (167.8 mph) of the Macan Turbo. That said, the latter packs as much as 440 hp (328 kW) under the hood.
In its most basic version, the GTS has sports suspension with a 15mm (0.6-inch) reduction in ride height, 20-inch wheels, 360mm (14”) brake discs, a sports exhaust system, black body accents, and tinted LED headlights. Options include composite brakes and air suspension, the latter bringing the car another 10mm (0.2”) closer to the road.
The interior houses bucket seats with improved lateral support and eight adjustments. The finish involves generous amounts of Alcantara and aluminum, and the equipment includes Bose audio, a wireless smartphone charger, and much more.
Sales will launch in the summer of 2020. The prices are pending for all markets except the USA, where the new Macan GTS will start from $71,300.
