Porsche considers making the Macan electric-only

The German sports car manufacturer is quite content with the sales numbers of its first EV – the Taycan – and now looks into expanding the offer by switching the Macan range to electric power.

The Porsche Macan has recently received a mid-generational update, and its second generation is coming up next year. The new crossover/SUV will become available as a pure EV with certain unique stylistic features in its new version. For about three years, Porsche intends to offer the EV alongside the traditional ICE-powered Macan – and then ditch the ICE range completely if the EV sales prove good enough. Specifically, this could happen in the year 2024; the final decision will be reached later depending on the market situation at the time.

The Macan is hugely popular internationally and especially in the USA, where it has sold 22,667 units in the last year alone, surpassing all other U.S. Porsche sales combined.
