Rumor: Porsche Macan EV approved for launch in 2022

Media first learned several months ago that the second generation of the Porsche Macan would be getting an all-electric version. Today, a few interesting bits of information surfaced online.

According to multiple German media, the Macan EV should hit the market sometime in 2022, with the premiere scheduled for a few months in advance.

The crossover SUV will inherit the Taycan EV chassis and benefit from permanent AWD. Its specs will be close to 709 hp (530 kW) and 1,017 Nm (750 lb-ft), the sources report.

The battery-powered Macan will be slightly different from its ICE counterpart, but only slightly at that. You may peek into our gallery to refresh what the regular Macan looks like.

Porsche believes around 30% or 40% Macan buyers will opt for the electric version when it comes out.
