Official: Porsche pondering a larger-than-Macan SUV EV

Porsche will soon unveil a new all-electric crossover that will reside above the Macan EV on the prestige scale, but have nothing to do with the Cayenne, CEO Oliver Blume said speaking at the Development HQ in Weissach, Germany.

Given this information, it looks like the battery vehicle will be slotting into the niche between light passenger car and crossover SUV. The production will take place in Leipzig, according to Blume, but when it reaches the market and what it will be like remains to be revealed.

The decision to design a new Porsche was apparently driven by the need to prioritize high-profit-margin car classes. As such, we would not be surprised if the new Porsche would be the company’s new electric flagship.

Quoting dealerships, Motor1.com claims the car shares sedan and SUV traits and looks like neither the Macan nor the Cayenne. Some of the dealers have apparently already gotten around to testing it, and we are told that it will ship with both hybrid and all-electric powertrains when it is ready.

In the meantime, it has been more than a year since Porsche started testing the Macan EV (see video).
