Video: BMW X3 M Comp races Porsche Macan GTS on an off-road course

Neither the BMW X3 M Competition nor the Porsche Macan GTS are cars you will typically encounter on dusty trails away from well-paved roads. This is precisely why Carscoops takes both of them out of their comfort zone in its latest video.

Powering the BMW is a three-liter inline-six engine twin-turbo’d to 510 PS (503 hp / 375 kW) and 650 Nm (479 lb-ft) of torque. An eight-speed automatic transmission drives four wheels, and the SUV weighs 2,010 kilograms (4,431 lbs).

The Porsche makes do with a 2.9-liter V6 TT making an inferior 440 PS (434 hp / 324 kW) and 550 Nm (406 lb-ft) of torque. A seven-speed gearbox conveys the momentum to both axles, and the car comes in at 1,960 kilos (4,321 lbs). On the downside, the Macan only has 177 mm of ground clearance against its Bavarian rival’s 206 mm (6.9 versus 8 inches).

Watch the entire competition to find out once and for all which one is the more capable off-roader.
