Porsche has shared some technical information regarding its upcoming all-electric Macan version. For the first time on record, the SUV will take advantage of all-wheel steering and a low drag ratio of 0.25 – almost on par with the Tesla Model Y.
According to the German sports car maker, different Macan EV prototypes have covered over 3,500,000 kilometers (2,174,800 miles) by now. The production SUV will ship with an active aerodynamic kit including a rear spoiler, front louvers and unspecified lower body trims with a variable geometry. The bottom will be covered with a solid panel to make it ‘completely flat’, according to Porsche.
A 100-kWh battery array under the floor will take advantage of 270kW charging to go from 10 to 80 percent full in 22 minutes. This battery size will be standard for all Macan modifications.
The powertrain and the driving range haven’t been discussed in detail yet. All we know at this moment is that the electric Macan will have four driven wheels by default and start from 600+ horsepower (446+ kilowatts). The torque will exceed 1,000 Nm (738 lb-ft) in top specs. Regardless of your preferred configuration, the car will deliver 500 km (310 miles) of driving range or more.
All-wheel steering will present drivers with the opportunity to turn the rear wheels by up to five degrees in tight spots. The feature list also mentions active air-ride suspension and torque vectoring.
