Porsche to release convertible / 2-door coupe Panamera versions

The Porsche Panamera sports car family will soon get two new members, a two-door coupe and a convertible, the manufacturer stated in a press release earlier today.

The company describes the new models as the “more practical 911 vehicles with the 2+2s seat configuration,” the “s” bit meaning that the rear seats still exist, but are trimmed down compared to their full-sized counterparts.

Most industry pros believe that the new cars will continue to utilize the MSB architecture of the latest Panamera and ship with the same assortment of engines, including a 3.0-liter V6 rated at 330 hp (246 kW) and a 4.0-liter V8 packing 460 hp (343 kW) or more. A hybrid version is also possible, but not confirmed.

After their market debut in 2020, the cars will have to fight against the BMW 8 Series Convertible and Coupé for customer attention. Interestingly, Porsche says it will actually use a different trademark than “Panamera” to market them, without providing any further details.
