The relentlessly dedicated Carwow team has arranged a quarter-mile drag race between two performance estate/wagons: a Mercedes-AMG E 63 S Estate and a Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo Turbo S E-Hybrid.
Both cars look similar on paper, packing twin-turbocharged V8s with four liters of displacement and AWD. However, while the Porsche Hybrid has 680 PS (671 hp, 500 kW) and 1,000 Nm (738 pound-feet) of torque at its disposal, the Mercedes-AMG lags slightly behind with 612 PS (604 hp, 450 kW) and 850 Nm (627 lb-ft). As a result, the former needs 3.4 seconds to sprint from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph), while the latter needs 3.5s.
The race ended with the winner coming up 0.2 seconds ahead of the loser. Watch the video to see how it went.
