Porsche Turbo cars will now sport their own, individual company logo that looks darker and is monochrome. The shade is called ‘Turbonite’. The first car to don it will be the third-generation Panamera coming up on November 24.
The Stuttgart company explains that it feels like a separate brand identity may be needed for its turbocharged vehicle line. The reason is that the current branding does not reflect just how different non-turbo cars are from those with forced induction. Just looking at badges like ‘GTS’ and ‘Turbo S’ does not tell the whole story.
The new Turbonite badge will first appear on the front end, on the steering wheel hub and the wheel hubcaps. Later on, the company plans to begin painting certain body kit and trim parts in the same color, as well as the wheels and some of the driver’s controls. Last but not least, some trim schemes may use Turbonite for contrast stitching on the seats and door panels.
