Porsche rolls out its swiftest Panamera to date

The new Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid borrows the powertrain from the Bentley Continental GT, but outperforms it in sheer acceleration potential. Ordering is already available, with the first shipments in Germany scheduled to begin in the fall.

A four-liter V8 and a single e-motor combine their efforts to send 782 PS (771 hp / 575 kW) to the wheels alongside 1,000 Nm (735 lb-ft) of torque. The Continental GT has the same power and torque rating, but the Panamera sprints faster (2.9s) and achieves a higher top speed (325 km/h, or 202 mph).

Armed with a 25.9-kWh battery pack, the hybrid supercar can cover up to 88 km (54 miles) on electricity alone. Active Ride Control, rear wheel steering and ceramic brakes with 440mm (17.2-inch) rotors are included in the main spec.

The biggest option package is called Carbon Aerokit. Designed specifically for the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid, it eliminates the lifting force at the front axle and adds 60 kg (132 lbs) of downforce at 200 km/h (124 mph). Another option comes in the form of 21-inch forged wheels shod in Michelin sport tires.
