Porsche has announced the premiere date of its Taycan EV. The battery-powered sports car will simultaneously debut in Germany, Canada and China on September 4, 2019, with live feeds from all three available via the manufacturer’s official website.
It is official that the Taycan will be getting a high-end Turbo version with 629 hp (469 kW) and 3.5 seconds to 100 km/h (62 mph). Its maximum speed will exceed 250 km/h (155 mph).
Customers will be able to choose between two battery sizes, 80 kWh and 96 kWh, and the driving range is reported to exceed 500 km (310 miles) in both cases. A rapid-charge function will enable replenishing the battery at a high-power charging station in as little as 15 minutes, yielding 400 km (250 miles) of range.
The Porsche Taycan will arrive in the showrooms throughout the world in three main versions: Standard (RWD), Taycan 4S (two engines, AWD) and Taycan Turbo (top trim, AWD). Options will include adaptive suspension, four-wheel steering, an active aerodynamic kit, and carbon-ceramic brakes.
Rumor has it the starting price tag will be close to U.S. $90,000.
