Porsche runs its Taycan EV through Nürburgring, sets technical records

German car manufacturer Porsche has revealed the results of a recent North Loop run attempted with a pre-production copy of its upcoming all-electric sports car, the Taycan.

The vehicle crossed the finish line in 7 minutes 42 seconds. While still impressive, the result is a mere four seconds better than that of the gas-powered Panamera Turbo.

The Porsche Taycan is the world’s first four-door all-electric sports car to complete an official Nürburgring run, therefore, its result will be officially recognized as the best in its category until another challenger appears. The Volkswagen ID.R. still keeps its title of Nordscheife’s fastest-going EV across all categories, though.

For the race, Porsche has upgraded its Taycan prototype with rear-wheel steering capability, adaptive active suspension, electronic roll stabilization, a chassis control system, and a powertrain rated at 629 hp (469 kW).
