It’s barely been a week since the premiere of the all-electric Porsche Taycan, but it has already received its first aftermarket upgrade project – and from none other than Hennessey, at that!
Based in Texas, USA, Hennessey Performance is primarily known for the crazily powerful V8 mods it has been producing over the past three decades. However, as times change, sometimes you just cannot afford to stay behind. This is precisely why the tuner team launches the upgrade for a purely electric car.
The company adds that it has been looking closely at the EV market for a while now, and the Taycan seemed like the perfect candidate to start with. While many of its clients prefer ICE-powered cars, they don’t really mind driving electric vehicles on an everyday basis. As John Hennessey himself put it, the company will not be ‘inventing the wheel’, but will rather concentrate on making that wheel go faster.
The pics you see here are just some design drafts, and the kit itself won’t be released until 2020, when Porsche launches the Taycan in the USA. At first, customers will be able to order an aerodynamic kit, new wheels and an interior makeover for the model, followed by powertrain upgrades later on. That said, Hennessey will only consider releasing those if it collects enough pre-orders from prospective buyers.
This is not hard to understand, given that the Porsche Taycan is quite powerful even in its stock guise. The Turbo S version packs 762 PS (750 hp, 560 kW) along with 1,049 Nm (774 lb-ft) of torque and zaps from standstill to 100 km/h in 2.8 seconds.
