The German luxury carmaker has confirmed that it is going to hire more workers and bolster production capacities to mitigate the huge backorder of its Taycan EV.
The company had originally set the annual production plan for its first all-electric sports car ever to 20,000 units, but this proved massively insufficient to cover the market demand, including the preorders. With this in mind, it will be employing 500 more workers and expanding production capacities to address the backlog.
Porsche commented that the wild public interest in the Taycan presents ample evidence that there is a huge market for quality EVs. No specifics are being disclosed, but rumors say the company has received over 30,000 pre-orders, even despite the forbidding price of the First Edition Taycan series. Things may get even hotter in 2020, when more affordable trims are launched.
