Video: Watch the Porsche Taycan Turbo S odometer as it speeds 0-260 km/h

There is no denying that the Porsche Taycan Turbo S is a supreme ride for acceleration junkies, and the video right here demonstrates just how fast the numbers go up on the counter when you go pedal-to-the-metal.

Like every other electric vehicle, the Taycan hits maximum torque almost instantaneously. However, the particular specimen featured in the video is a range-topper with the Launch Control and Sport Plus modes activated.

The acceleration is breathtaking, indeed. The car gets to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 2.8 seconds, just as advertised, but then proceeds to surpass all expectations with 200 km/h (124 mph) attained in 8 seconds flat, rather than the manufacturer-promised 9.8 s. Sixteen seconds after the start, it hits its artificial speed limit at 260 km/h (161.6 mph).

But perhaps the most interesting part is not even the acceleration itself. We have already seen other cars substantially outperform their factory specs (take the new Audi RS7 Sportback, for example). What truly amazes us is how consistent the acceleration remains until the end. The traction battery makes the EV weigh a whopping 2,295 kilograms (5,060 lbs), even more than the Cayenne Turbo. This alone makes the stats highly impressive.

By the way, Hennessey Performance has already expressed interest in tuning Porsche’s first battery car – and not just in terms of looks, either, but also in terms of acceleration and power.
