Porsche seems determined to bring back as many unusual records as possible using its Taycan EV. The latest one is especially interesting.
Piloted by Leh Keen, a 761-PS (750-hp / 560-kW) with carbon-ceramic brakes has managed to hit 102.6 miles per hour (165.1 km/h) in a closed expo center in New Orleans. Keen started things off by warming up the tires and then switched launch control on during the start sequence, which let him go from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 2.8 seconds. The independent observers present confirmed the record.
Speaking in an interview, Keen pointed out that racing on polished concrete was no easier than driving on naked ice. He was still happy that he managed to dethrone the previous record of 86 mph (138 km/h), which had held out for seven years.
