After premiering the cross-country-capable Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo, VP of the model line Stefan Weckbach let it slip that a few two-door modifications could be coming later.
According to Wechbach, the wagon, which comes as a sort of a substitute for the Panamera Sport Turismo, is by far not the only body style the new J1 platform supports well. As such, a Taycan coupe and its open-top counterpart are possible, although neither should be expected anytime soon.
As for the wagon, it was apparently rather trivial to design and produce. Among other things, Porsche never had to design a new body or powertrain layout from scratch. In its most basic form, the Taycan Cross Turismo will come driven by a single rear-axle motor, which should drop the price a bit.
Aside from the above, Porsche is also considering launching an affordable AWD version of the Taycan sedan. The Cross Turismo has a variant named Taycan 4, which packs 380 PS (375 hp / 279 kW) and is quite attractively priced. In contrast, the cheapest Taycan 4S sedan starts as high as 490 PS (483 hp / 360 kW), which makes it nearly €13,000 more expensive. Slotting in a cheaper alternative could boost sales.
